A jab will always come from your lead
(front) fist. While you’re in your
fighting stance, your lead hand will
be thrown straight ahead and fully
extended. Your hips should follow with
a quick turn of your torso.
A cross will come from your rear fist,
which is typically your dominant hand.
Your arm will extend across the body
and make contact at eye level. Don’t
forget to pivot your hips to follow!
In a roundhouse, your entire body will
turn to lift and pivot the back leg
from a fighting stance. Your standing
leg will turn slightly outwards as
you power your kick through the lifted
leg, striking with the lower part of
your shin, and sometimes the top of
your foot.

To complete a front kick, you will
raise the knee of the kicking leg, then
extend your leg to make contact with
the bottom of your foot. Drive the
power through your kick in one swift
motion as you push the bag away
with your foot.
A hook makes contact with the sides
of the bag, with your arm in a
rounded form, like a hook. Your arm
should swing in an arc motion, with
your torso turning to follow the motion
of the swing.
An uppercut puts your arm in an
angle like a roundhouse, but you'll be
holding your arms vertically rather
than horizontally. You'll drop your arm
towards your hip and drive it upwards
through your core, making contact
with the bag with the top of
your fist.
